On 14th September, 2017, Our Lady’s Home was the place to be! The day, 51 schools from all over Mumbai flocked together for the one of a kind Biblical Fashion show and Bible Quiz. The day began by invoking the presence of the Lord after which Walter D’Souza- Promoter-Biblical Committee declared the event open and welcomed all to the event. The event was graced by the presence of Bp. John Rodrigues- Bishop In-charge of the Biblical Ministry in our Archdiocese. His words of encouragement to the children gave a boost to the schools. He also appreciated the efforts of the organizers and the innovative ways of bringing the Bible alive to this generation.
An intense elimination round for the Bible Quiz was conducted, testing the Biblical knowledge of these 51 schools from which 6 schools were shortlisted for the final round of the Bible Quiz. The Bible Quiz was a well-thought and planned quiz which had various rounds like True/False, MCQ, AV rounds and a Rapid fire round. The teams were not left alone but were given life support through life-line options such as flip, audience poll etc. Each team gave their best shot and participated in the quiz with equal gusto and energy.
The one-of-kind Biblical Fashion show gave a peak into the talents of the children showcasing the various Biblical characters through a two minute presentation each. Every school that presented prepared their presentation with a lot of efforts and details. The enthusiasm of the children and teachers to train them was extraordinary. The Biblical Fashion show was judged by Fr. Melroy Mendonca and Ms. Christina Alvares.
The winners for Bible Quiz and Biblical Fashion show were given trophies, medals and gifts. The Bible Quiz was won by St. Joseph’s School Wadala and the Biblical Fashion show was won by Canossa Primary School Mahim. The second prize for the Bible Quiz was won by Carmel of St. Joseph Malad and the Biblical Fashion show was won by St. Stanislaus School Bandra. Divine Child School won the third prize for the Bible Quiz and Sacred Heart Vashi won the third prize for the Biblical Fashion show.
With snacks and lunch being served, each teacher was felicitated with a token of appreciation and every child left the place with a smile on their face with a gift of a Bible. Overall the event was a well-organized, minutely thought of programme by the team led by Fr. Walter D’Souza with the support of the brothers of the minor seminary, the fathers and boys of Our Lady’s Home. Each team member played an important role in making this event a success. Creating a platform to learn and explore the Bible in innovative ways to this generation of children, is something that the Bible Committee has achieved by this Bible Quiz and one-of-kind Biblical Fashion Show. A ‘thank you’ to them for keeping the Word of God – The Bible alive and ignited.
