A One Day Bible Study for the youth between the age group of 17-30 was organized by the Bible Committee for the first time on 2nd October 2017. Covering the whole Bible from Genesis to Revelation in one day seemed impossible but the feat was pulled off by Fr. Walter D’souza and Fr. K. T. Emmanuel.
The event was attended by around 200 youth from different parishes of the Archdiocese. It began with registrations and a small box was provided by the organizers to every youth. They were perplexed as to why an empty box was provided to each youth but later it was revealed that the box was to be a question bank that had to be filled with the questions that arose as the sessions proceeded.
Fr. Walter introduced them to the world of the Old Testament. He expounded to them the Pentateuch, the Historical books; in parallel with the Prophetic books; and the Wisdom Books. Interspersed between his teachings were jokes, anecdotes and action songs that kept the whole session alive. He kept the crowd going with his lively and energetic enunciation of every topic.
Fr. K. T. Emmanuel came with his wit and expertise and expounded for the youth the New Testament. He spoke of the Gospels, the letters and the book of Revelation. He allowed the youth to ask a variety of questions and reached out to them by satisfactorily answering each of them. His enthusiasm and his presentation kept the afternoon lively.
The day ended with an interest created in all the youth to know the Word. The presence of 200 youth sends a message to all that they are not only interested in activities but we want to know more about our Faith.
