The situation in Manipur continues to cause anxiety to all and suffering to the people of the area. All our churches have prayed for peace, and we continue to do so. What began as a conflict between two tribes has been given a communal twist, starting with the destruction of the places of worship. For the good of the country and the good of the people, we can't be indifferent to what is happening.
The CBCI President, Archbishop Andrews Thazhath, has been closely monitoring the situation, and has appealed for prayers. I join him in this appeal. Our Commission for Liturgy has prepared a prayer service, which I request all our parishes to use as an aid in our parishes and SCC groups. I urge you also to keep this intention in mind when you say your family prayers.
In consultation with the Archbishop of Imphal, we will decide how we can help more.
