The 100th Birth Anniversary of Cardinal Simon Pimenta is on Sunday, March 1, 2020. I will celebrate a Memorial Mass at 9:30 a.m. at St John the Evangelist Church, Marol on that day. All our priests, religious and lay faithful are cordially invited to join me in thanking God for the gift of the person of Cardinal Simon Pimenta and for his impact on each of us, the Archdiocese, and the Church in India. Priests wishing to concelebrate are requested to kindly bring their alb, cincture and violet stole.
On this occasion, I will launch a special project in memory of Cardinal Simon Pimenta. After the Mass, a short prayer service will be held at the grave.
We give thanks to God for Cardinal Simon Pimenta's inspiring leadership as Auxiliary and Coadjutor Bishop (1971 - 1978) and as Archbishop of Bombay (1978 - 1997). May the Lord grant eternal rest to this faithful steward and loving shepherd.
