Easter is with us once again, the feast of Light, Hope Peace and Love; of the victory of good over evil; of God over Satan. The story of Our Lord's life, Passion and death ends not on Good Friday; it becomes complete on Easter Sunday with the Resurrection of the Lord. In the life of Our Lord, all these elements are inseparable: each one gives meaning to the other. Our Lord's whole life is a Paschal Mystery.
Each one of us has surely gone through a process of self-examination, of cleansing and turning back to the Lord during Lent. Pope Francis, in his Apostolic Exhortation, Joy of the Gospel, invites us to make this our life programme, and not just for one liturgical season.
On this Easter Sunday, I wish to give each one of you my warm and affectionate greetings. At the Easter Eucharist that I will celebrate at Holy Name Cathedral, I will pray for all our people, and specially remember the sick, aged, lonely and those in any pain or affliction. When I celebrate the morning Mass with our retired priests at Clergy Home, I will pray specially for all in ministry - clergy, religious and laity. May this great feast help us to experience peace, to discover hope and to find joy. The Lord is truly Risen! Alleluia! We are truly an Easter people.
