Year of Faith Procession Attracts Thousands

Holding burning candles in their hands thousands of Catholics walked the streets of Vijayawada city for two long hours carrying the Blessed Sacrament as a public proclamation of the Year of Faith Celebration on Sunday , October 27 in Vijayawada.
Organized by the Salesian Parish of Pezzonipeta with the involvement of the entire deanery of the St. Peter’s Co- Cathedral of several Parishes, the rally took place at five in the evening and the people marched on for two hours chanting hymns and shouting slogans in praise of Jesus present in the Blessed Sacrament that was mounted on a grandly decorated vehicle and carried along . It was a great sight for the onlookers who watched the devotees walking on the newly constructed spacious roads of the new city, carrying yellow and white flags and banners of the Church.
Hundreds of youth from the Parish mounted the two wheelers and followed the procession to reach finally the St. Ann’s High School grounds where a tastefully decorated stage was set and the people gathered around the Monstrance to adore the Lord of Lords and King of Kings. Bishop Goivindu Joji who presided over the evening Eucharistic Adoration prayed fervently for increase of faith and charity among the people of God.
