OFFICIAL - Press Statement
Oct. 5, 2018
We, Cardinal George Alencherry, Cardinal Basilios Cleemis and Cardinal Oswald Gracias, presently in Rome for the Synod of Bishops, have met with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State, with Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, and with Cardinal Leonardo Sandri, Prefect of the Congrega on for the Oriental Churches, to share our thoughts on the Jalandhar issue.
We were assured that the Holy See is closely following developments and is awai ng the results of the police inves ga on. We reiterated our confidence in the judicial system of India, and trust that the full truth will emerge, and jus ce will be done for all.
At this me, our hearts and minds are with our people, and we pray especially for all involved in this case.
We expect that the present Synod of Bishops will result in a revitaliza on of our apostolate to young people, and bring fresh life and vigour to all our Churches.
