Fr. Vincent D'cruz elected President of the Indian Catechetical Association

Founded on the 28th of January, 1996, the ICA had its 22nd General Assembly from 7th – 9th February, 2018 to reflect and discuss on the theme, “Catechesis and Indian Cultural Traditions.” It was during this meeting that an election was held for the post of President and the members unanimously elected Fr. Vincent D’Cruz for a three year term. The Executive Committee members are as follows:
President: Fr. Vincent D’Cruz (Bombay)
Vice President: Fr. Xavier Kochuparampil (Kerala)
Secretary: Fr. Cletus D’Souza sdb (Bombay)
Treasurer: Ms. Judeline D’Souza (Bombay)
Nominated: Ms. Raynah Braganza Passanha (Pune)
Nominated: Fr. K. D. Thomas (Nagpur)
The Indian Catechetical Association is a forum of catechists that meets annually to share, reflect on and study catechetical issues in India. Its objectives are to foster research and publication in catechetical matter, promotion of relevant catechesis for the people of India today, and provide guidelines for its evaluation. The ICA also aims at giving catechetical animators the necessary help to make their catechesis experientia and fruitful with a view to building up a genuine Christian community. Through its functioning the Association studies the relationship between catechesis and the vital issues connected with the mission of the Indian Church in the context of religions, cultures and the struggle for a just society.
