Prayer and help for the Earthquake victims
April 27, 2015
Oswald Cardinal Gracias, Archbishop of Bombay, has expressed his deep concern for the victims of the earthquake, which struck Nepal just before noon on Saturday, April 25, 2015. Cardinal Gracias is in touch with Caritas India and Caritas Nepal; assessments are coming in and Caritas teams in the country are organising the response. "Rescue is still the main priority at the moment. Lots of people have lost their homes and are out on the street or in open spaces, so we will be looking to provide them with food and temporary shelter," said Fr. Pius Perumana SJ, Director, Caritas Nepal.
Parishes across the Archdiocese have remembered the people of Nepal in their prayers and are responding to appeals for assistance.
The Cardinal has directed Centre for Social Action, which is the Office of Social Work for the Archdiocese of Bombay (Mumbai), to coordinate the donations for the relief work.
For your contribution to the Nepal Earthquake Relief your cheques should kindly be drawn in favour of ‘CENTRE FOR SOCIAL ACTION’ and sent to: Centre for Social Action, Eucharistic Congress Bldg. III, 5 Convent Street, Colaba, Mumbai – 400001. (Phone:022 – 22022987 / 22021509).
