RE: VIDEO BEING CIRCULATED PURPORTING TO BE AN ENDORSEMENT OF POLITICAL PARTY BY THE ARCHBISHOP OF BOMBAY
The following clarification is issued by the Press Office of the Archdiocese of Bombay:
It has been brought to our attention that pictures of His Eminence, Oswald Cardinal Gracias meeting the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, and a video of a priest giving his personal testimony of help rendered by a particular political party are being circulated by individuals, which may be used to direct people to vote for a particular candidate.
It is hereby clarified that the Archdiocese of Bombay and His Eminence, Oswald Cardinal Gracias, have always encouraged all persons to execute their constitutional right of voting. However, the Catholic Church does not endorse or support any particular party or candidate.
