A grave humanitarian crisis has unfolded in Iraq with thousands of Christians and other religious minorities being displaced from their homes and cities by the forces of invading religious extremists. The increasing violence and bloodshed has forced almost 200,000 people to flee their homes. Pope Francis has repeatedly requested all the faithful and all men and women of goodwill to join him in praying for the Iraqi Christians and other vulnerable population. In solidarity with the Holy Father and joining our thoughts with those suffering in Iraq, I invite all our people to pray for peace and for an end to this senseless violence.
