Feast of the Divine Mercy
The Universal Church celebrates the feast of Divine Mercy on Sunday, April 27, the first Sunday after Easter. Blessed John Paul II instituted this Feast, and urged us all to celebrate it with devotion and gratitude in our hearts.
All masses of the weekend could be focussed on this theme with the preaching of an appropriate homily. I recommend that on the feast day, a picture of the Divine Mercy be displayed in a prominent position in the church, preferably near the altar. Since this devotion is associated with the time that we traditionally hold as the time of Our Lord’s death, i.e. 3:00 p.m., it would be advisable to leave our churches open at that time, as the faithful may want to visit the church. Prayer groups may wish to organise prayer services.
The Lord has shown great mercy to the Archdiocese of Bombay and to each one of us personally. We pray that He continues to do so, and helps each one of us to be His worthy disciples.
