BISHOP ALLWYN CELEBRATES FOUNDER’S DAY AT BANDRA GYMKHANA
May 6, 2017
On Saturday, May 6, 2017, Bishop Allwyn D’Silva celebrated his first mass as Bishop at the tennis courts of Bandra Gymkhana on the occasion of the popular member’s day. Fr. Caesar D’mello, Fr. Colman Carlos, Fr. Joe Pereira, Fr. Savio de Sales and a few other member-priests accompanied His Lordship as the concelebrants at the Eucharist.
In his homily, Bishop Allwyn paid tribute to Dr. D’Monte, the founder of the Gymkhana, for donating/securing the land for the Gymkhana so the members could meet and greet socially, sportingly and amicably, leading to the betterment of the community. Keeping in connection with the theme of the Good Shepherd, the Bishop compared Dr. D’monte to Christ the Good Shepherd, who is concerned primarily with the welfare of his flock. He also congratulated the Trustees, the Managing Committee, and the current and past Presidents for making Bandra Gymkhana a hit among the members.
After the Holy Communion, the Bishop blessed everyone present as well as the premises of the Gymkhana with holy water. Following the Eucharist, all the members gathered round for a fellowship.
