In a relief to harried parents trying to get their children admitted to schools, the Archdiocesan Board of Education (ABE) has come up with the solution of providing a one-stop admission portal for all KG and pre-primary admissions. Under this system, around 50 schools that are part of the ABE have come forward to link their school websites to one portal so that parents can fill out only one admission form, instead of different ones for all the different schools, for the 201617 academic session. The admission form, however, has to be filled out by January 20.
“The intention was to have a hassle-free process for parents who desire to secure an admission for pre-primary. With an increase in demand and competition, it becomes a big task for parents to keep track of the different schedules for different schools, where they would want to apply in the absence of a stipulated timeline by the education department,“ said Fr George Athaide, secretary, ABE -a regulatory authority for these schools.
Around 35 schools have already registered with the portal and around 20 more are expected to join this week.
“The response is very good. We received more than 30 applications on day one itself,“ said Father Crispino, principal of St Dominique Savio Convent, Andheri. Some of the prominent schools that are a part of this are RC Church School; St Joseph's, Colaba; and St Dominique Savio Convent, Andheri.
The form is available in English, Hindi and Marathi. Each school has also appointed a facilitator to solve queries from parents.
“The portal is mobile-friendly and the instructions are provided in all three languages. This is to allow people from all nooks and corners of the city to apply“ said Fr Athaide.
ZERO ADMISSION FORM FEE
Due to the system going online, the fee for procuring the different admission forms from the various schools has been eliminated. The admission form online is available free of cost.
“This system is very good as we will not have to shell out an amount ranging from Rs 50 to Rs 500 for forms of different schools anymore, just to ensure that we have secured an admission,“ said Neeta Sawla, a parent from Bandra who has applied though the portal.
